I prefer them this way &#8217;cause they are more creamy, but I tried the baked version as well and it&#8217;s equally delicious!<br \/>\nAlso the traditional recipe calls for cane sugar but I find that the onions make the sauce pretty sweet already and I don&#8217;t like to add the sugar. But feel free to adjust everything according to your taste. The best part of cooking your own food is that you can play with what you like and create the perfect combination of flavors for your tastes. The kitchen is your own playground, have fun wit it!!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-162 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1814\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455-254x300.jpg 254w, https:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455-768x907.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455-867x1024.jpg 867w, https:\/\/thegoldenhour.idra.it\/fm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_2455-740x874.jpg 740w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ingredients (makes 2 big servings):<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u2022 320g cooked navy beans\u00a0(if your using canned beans remember always to rinse and wash them)<br \/>\n\u2022 500g\u00a0plane tomato sauce<br \/>\n\u2022 2\u00a0medium white onions<br \/>\n\u2022 2 cloves of garlic<br \/>\n\u2022 2\u00a0tbsp extra virgin olive oil<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00bd\u00a0cup boiling water<br \/>\n\u2022 1\u00a0\u00bd\u00a0red chilli<br \/>\n\u2022 1 tsp salt<br \/>\n\u2022 1 tbsp tamari sauce (soy sauce will work too)<br \/>\n\u2022 2\u00a0tsp smoked paprika<br \/>\nToppings:\u00a0\u2022 juice of \u00bd of a lemon \u2022a hand full of green onion or fennel herb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Start by slicing the onions e let them saut\u00e9 with the oil in a large skillet pan. Add the crushed garlic, the diced chilli and the paprika. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent. Add the tomato sauce, the water and the salt. Put the lid on and let it cook for 15 minutes at medium heat. Then add the beans and the tamari and give it a good stir. Keep cooking for 10 minutes at high heat stirring occasionally.
